Worldwide, sparkling wine was the fastest growing wine category over the last quarter of a century and there seems to be no end in sight to the trend. Currently, 10 percent of wine sold globally is sparkling with sales expected to reach $3.73 billion (15.8 million cases) by 2021.
Consumption of sparkling wines is continuing to grow around the globe with emerging popularity in Asia. Although the USA and the UK are still the two largest import markets, interest in sparkling wines is rising in countries such as China, South Korea and Japan, where they are particular favorites among young urban women.
